Rose Petal Porch

This weekend I'll be on the road again, for another AMAZING
EARTH ANGEL'S ART GIRLS ROAD SHOW!
This time, it will be in my home state,
New Jersey.
*
I was introduced to Joyce Cudworth Meehan, owner of the Beautiful
Rose Petal Porch last June.
Let me tell you, Joyce has an amazing eye for vintage finds!
Her shop is filled with treasures at wonderfully reasonable prices!
I came home with a light green 'cubby' shelf, a few
black and white pictures and a vintage purse for Tess.
I use the green shelf in my studio and I also use it as a display at
all of the shows.
Joyce, I could have sold it many times BUT I love it and can't part with it!
*
I am fortunate enough that I am going to share my weekend
in Lafayette with my favorite peeps!
Jen O'Connor, Master Mind and Creator of Earth Angels,
Kathy Nuttall - Doer of all Tasks,
Robin and Denny Bellarmino - The Show Organizer and 'Body Guard',
and Letty Worley - Sweetheart and Bear Maker Extraordinaire!
*
I'm also hoping that these artists can make the show...
Laurie Meseroll - Fantabulous Mix Media Painter
and
Diana Card - Amazingly Detailed Americana Painter
*
It's suppose to be a beautiful weekend, weather wise.
Come visit us at Rose Petal Porch
and downtown Lafayette for their great assortment
of Antique and Junk Shops!
*
Happy Junking!

Tess' Confirmation

What a Blessed weekend!
Tess made her Confirmation on Saturday.
Her blessed event was shared by Me and Chris,
her Great-Grandma Tess (96), her 'Other' Nana (75),
her Nana (69) and Papa (71).
*
St Francis of Assisi Church was decorated beautifully for the
young men and ladies who were being Confirmed.
The Ladies Guild gave each of the Confirmed a carnation corsage/buttonier
and a Confirmation frame.
The Knights of Columbus gave the Confirmation class a
beautiful set of pearl Rosaries.
Such kind and generous gifts.
Tess' teachers, Deacon Michael and Mrs Flaherty were wonderful.
Tess enjoyed her classes, just not the waking up early part!
Bishop Cote was very nice. He smiled. He made eye contact.
He didn't drill the kids with questions. He shook hands and took pictures with everyone.
*
I remember being AFRAID of the Bishop when
I was being Confirmed. He didn't smile. He glared at us. He asked us questions.
There were no pictures.....I don't even think a handshake.
EEEEEK!
*
Deacon Michael, Tessie and Bishop Michael Cote
 Tess, Great-Grandma Tess (96), "Other" Nana (75), Papa (71) & Nana (69)
Me (w/Skippy), Tess and MC
*
So another Church Journey completed for Tess.
As my Mom said, the next Church service Tess will be having is her WEDDING!
I think that can wait for at least 10 more years!
*
My love to Tess for taking another Spiritual Journey.
May Tess know that she will ALWAYS be loved and cherished by
GOD and her Family.

19 Wonderful Years & Still Counting!

Today marks 19 Wonderful Wedded Years to my Hubby.
WOW! Time just rolls on by.
Our wedding day was so warm, in the 70's, and sunny.
The yellow forsithia was blooming everywhere.
Friends and Family came from everywhere to share our day with us.
IT WAS JUST BEAUTIFUL!
<3
If someone would ask me to pick the Happiest Day of my life, I would have to
say that there would HAVE to be 2 days.
One = My Wedding day to MC
Two = The Day Tess was born
<3
I pray that MC and I have MANY years left to spend together.
I also pray that Tess is as blessed and I was to find such a wonderful,
supportive, devoted and loving man.
<3
MC, you still ROCK my WORLD!
xoxoxo
Always-

Our wedding ceremony and reception were at the
Old Mansion in Union NJ.

Spring *Snow*?

Yep!
The Meteorologists are on a roll again!
They're calling for *snow* tonight!
*
I don't know who or what to believe about the weather,
ANYMORE!
Do we listen to the Weather Channel, the Local Weather Man/Woman,
read the Farmer's Almanac or get in tune with Mother Nature?
This is just NUTS!
*
I've told Tess, about a million times now,
to go to college and study the weather.
Heck, she could look pretty on tv, make MAJOR mistakes
forecasting the weather (even with the infamous DOPLER) and
still get paid!
Sounds like a plan to me!
*
Anyway, found this cute pix of Tess from Easter 2004 when we
moved into our Columbia house.
There's actually *snow* on the ground!
She's too cute so I had to share!
(BTW, Great Grandma Tess made her Easter dress.)
*
So, there was snow for Easter in 2004 and snow for
Halloween in 2011.
So, I guess there could be snow tonight.
*
Bring in those 'Spring' flowers, just in case.

Sharing and Trading

These are my good friends, Robin and Denny.
They are a fun couple that I had the pleasure of meeting through the infamous,
Jen O'Connor of Earth Angel's Toys a few years back.
Robin and Denny pretty much run the register and keep track of
the inventory at shows for Jen.
Robin is tough, keeps us all in line and keeps all the $$ in order.
Denny, he's the bouncer. The muscle, the brawn.
Really? NO, not really!
He's a big Teddy Bear and he does what Robin says!
*
Robin, Denny and I are known as the 3 Muskateers.
Robin is #1, Denny is #2 and of course, I'm #3.
It's how we roll. It's how we keep the EA Shows going.
*
Robin and I have an addiction to sewing notions. Fabric, pin cushions, bobbins,
thread, pins, you name it.
I'm sure Robin would win the game hands down if we had to compare
who has more sewing notions.
BUT,
we both love to share our goodies.
Robin sent me a package months ago which contained some amazing
old quilt pieces and vintage mother of pearl buttons.
Robin's note was to create whatever I wanted.
Well, I finally finished a goodie box and shipped it to her.
(The box above.)
There were sand filled pin cushions, strawberry emeries, a pillow, a cube with a
mini mohair bear and a shadow box.
Robin loved them all! WAHOO!
*
In return, I received a trade. Two University of Delaware Blue Hen sweatshirts.
One for me and one for Tess. BONUS!
There's a story behind the sweatshirts that I will tell at another time.
I have to get pictures of me and Tess with the hoodies on.
*
AND, Robin let me keep any leftover quilt pieces and buttons.
More fun projects to come!
Maybe to sell at one of the EA shows!
*
Stay tuned!
*
xoxo to #1 and #2

Time on my side?

Time is an equal opportunity employer.
Each human being has exactly the same
number of hours and minutes every day.
Rich people can't buy more hours.
Scientists can't invent new minutes.
And you can't save time to spend it on another day,
Even so, time is amazingly fair and forgiving.
No matter how much time you've wasted in the past,
you still have an entire tomorrow.
-Denis Waitely
*
I've been CRAZY busy and that's actually a great thing.
I think this might be the "Year of the Skippy Doodle".
I'm excited!
Can't announce anything 'stellar' as of yet.....
but announcements THERE WILL BE!
WAHOO!
*
The above pictured children's hutch and clock collection belong to my infamous
friend, Jen O'Connor. She found these treats at Jack's Barn in
Oxford NJ. jacksbarn.com
My Brother's place. It's wonderful!
You should definately check it out!
Jen's hutch is also filled with Derby Blooms made by
my friend and Talented textile artisit Marie Pendly of CA.
You can see them and purchase them on Earthangelstoys.com.

Stay tuned for more SkippyDoodle news and updates!

H*a*P*p*Y N*e*W Y*e*A*r!

Happy New Year!
2011 was a good year.
I can't complain at all!
BUT
looking forward to an AWESOME 2012!
*
So Blessed to have a LOVING and SUPPORTIVE FAMILY!
You can achieve anything when you have someone standing next to you cheering you on,
or giving you words of advise, or a pat on the back for a job well done
or even a shoulder to cry on.
Thanks MC and Tess, from the bottom of my heart!
*
My life motto is:
LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT,
ALWAYS HAS BEEN,
ALWAYS WILL BE.

*
We all have the opportunity to make ourselves happy, successful, loving, supportive and motivated.
If you don't like a situation you are in, the job you have, the relationship you're in, your weight, your finances, do something and CHANGE IT!
Sometimes it might be as simple as waking up and being grateful for what you have.
Kissing your loved ones and telling them you love them.
Getting rid of those 'energy vampires' in your life.
Cutting out the fast food, brown bagging lunch.
Call a friend or sending a note.
*
Simple things make a difference.
*
Take care, God Bless.
Enjoy your life in 2012!
xoxo
