ReplyDeletePlease be advised that your use of the name "Skippy" for "Skippy Doodle Designs" to be displayed at the Hudson Super Market is not with the permission of Skippy, Inc., which owns the trade name and federal trademarks for SKIPPY. Perhaps you are not aware of the continuing legal claims of Skippy, Inc. against Unilever, the maker of SKIPPY brand peanut butter, as noted on the official website of Skippy, Inc., www.Skippy.com. Their unauthorized use of the name and heavy use of advertising as the alleged owner of our SKIPPY name has created much public confusion that is actionable under the laws of unfair competition, and has caused many to assume that the "Skippy" name is free for others to use as well.
While we encourage and support the rights of artists and entrepreneurs to create and display their wares, we request that you also recognize the prior rights of Skippy, Inc.to protect and police the SKIPPY trade name and proprietary rights from dilution and confusion in the market---especially in supermarkets where SKIPPY peanut butter is sold. Surely, there are other names you can select for your "Doodle Designs" that do not conflict with our rights.
